Thank you to Cost Plus World Market for helping us Spruce Up Our Space by creating a reading nook at home with a real pop of color!
We have a nook just under the stairs that are well, empty. Absolutely boring with no appeal. A small space that we were never quite sure what to do with. A space in dire need of warmth and personality to welcome guests as they enter.
But once we saw the vibrant colors and rich textures from the Nomad Tour Collection at Cost Plus World Market, we knew we found the perfect solution for our less than appealing corner, a reading nook at home full of bright jewel tones to brighten everyone’s day.
Creating a Stylish Entry Reading Nook at Home
The first sight you see as you walk into our house is this neglected little nook under our stairs. Nothing but white walls and tile. We’ve had a few ideas of what we wanted to do with this space, but nothing ever panned out. The one thing we did know, is that we wanted to create something that is both functional and fashionable.
As our family has grown and changed from a standard school to a homeschool family, we found our family in need of a quiet reading space for our children and ourselves. With this new inspiration in mind, we set out to create a warm and welcoming reading nook our family and guests will enjoy.
To create our new space, we decided to make the focal point of the nook this beautiful Aberdeen Delani Upholstered Accent Chair. The boho vibe with the vibrant gold and teal ikat print adds the perfect pop of color to our new reading nook.
But you can’t add a focal point without a few accessories to complete the look. To add even more color pop to our chair we paired the Green and Teal Sari Patchwork Throw Pillow and Gold Herringbone Cotton Throw Pillow together for a visual and functional impact.
Next, we added a side table with a few fun accessories to our reading nook at home to create a mood and ambiance we love.
My favorite characteristics of the Nomad Tour collection are the details. From the latches to the intricate designs on the hurricane candleholders, the Nomad Tour collection with a Moroccan-inspired design handcrafted by artisans in India will not disappoint.
Above our side table hangs the Hexagonal Antique Copper Layla Hanging Lantern to create the warm ambiance we were looking for. The kids love reading as the sun sets by candlelight before bed each night.
On the opposite side of the chair from the table, we have the Vintage Architectural Panel on a stand. I’ll be honest, this piece wasn’t originally on my list to purchase, but once I saw it in the store I just couldn’t resist bringing it home and adding it to our reading nook at home.
What I love most about this piece is that the panel features intricate hand-carved designs inspired by the architecture in Rajasthan, India, giving our home a timeless global style.
Finally, we added the Gray Dots Woven Throw for those chilly nights when we want to curl up in the chair with our favorite book and a cup of tea (or hot chocolate for the littles). The rich woven textures of this soft throw will keep us warm and cozy all winter long.
One item I purchase and fell in love with but couldn’t quite work into our space was the Blue and Antique Copper Lanterns. The blue glass provides vibrant contrast and colors the candlelight for a cool ambiance. While I couldn’t work them into our nook, the lanterns look utterly perfect atop our red brick mantel.
