DIY Scallop Shell Jewelry Dish
This is the perfect craft for you if you're looking for a simple statement piece with a purpose. Not only does this scallop shell jewelry dish brighten up any space, it helps you organize the little things in life you cherish most.
- Scallop shells
- Gold paint
- Glue gun
- Varnish (optional)
Step 1 – Turn the scallop shell upside down and use the glue gun to create three mediums sized blobs on the bottom of the shell in a triangular shape. Leave the shell upside down until this glue has completely dried. These blobs will prevent the shell from tipping over when it is standing up.
Step 2 – Once the glue has dried, turn the shell back the right way up and then cover the inside in gold paint. Wait for the paint to dry and then apply another layer of gold paint. Repeat this until the inside of the shell is completely covered. Once the paint has dried your shell dish is ready to use. If you're worried about scratching the paint try adding a thin coat of clear varnish over the top.
The best thing about this fun and simple DIY scallop shell jewelry dish is that you can design your shells in just about any color imaginable. Try mix and match colors to create a colorful statement, or swirl iridescent natural sea colors for an abalone effect.
