These pretty heart tissue paper suncatchers will brighten any room when displayed on the window, especially when the sun shines through the tissue paper. You can use this same technique to make tissue paper suncatchers of any shape, for any time of year, so you can fill your window with a rainbow of cheerful decorations.
Heart Tissue Paper Suncatchers
- Black card or paper
- Tissue paper (dark red, red, pink and purple)
Step 1 – Cut a heart shape out of the black card about 5 inches wide, however, it can be larger or smaller depending on how big you want the decoration to be. Then carefully push the scissors through the center of the black card and cut out a smaller heart in the middle, creating a heart-shaped frame.
Step 2 – Take the dark red piece of tissue paper and cut out a strip, approximately 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches long. The size of the strip will vary depending on how large your heart is, so make sure the tissue paper strip is longer than the width of the heart. Then cut strips of the same size from the other pieces of tissue paper.
Step 3 – Cover the card heart shape in glue. Then place the purple tissue paper strip across the bottom of the heart, making sure it sticks to the card. Repeat this with the pink tissue paper strip slightly above the purple, then the red strip and then the dark red. Now the whole of the inside heart should be covered with tissue paper.
Step 4 – Once the glue has completely dried, turn the heart over and trim off the left over edges of the tissue paper. Now your heart tissue paper suncatchers are finished and ready to stick to your window.
