Recently, the LA County Lifeguards and Toyota teamed up to present an interactive water safety demonstration featuring a series of drills and techniques to students from the Boys and Girls Club of Gardena-Harbor. Thanks to Toyota USA, we had the opportunity to attend the event to learn more about beach water safety just in time for summer.
During the event we also learned more about Toyota, the official automotive sponsor of the county’s lifeguard program. We even had the opportunity to watch a daring, mock beach water rescue with the LA County Lifeguards.
LA County Lifeguards & Toyota Team Up for Beach Water Safety
With Memorial Day and summer right around the corner, it's a good time to remember how to be safe around the water and beaches. Safety for Toyota is number, both in the cars that they build and the communities they serve.
This is the second year Toyota has been the official automotive sponsor of the LA County Fire Department's Lifeguard division, providing 65 trucks and SUV's to LA County Lifeguards so they can keep our beaches safe and provide rescues along the Los Angeles shorelines.
Last year, 73 million people came to the beaches of LA County, and out of that the LA County Lifeguards provided 16,000 ocean rescues, and another 16,000 medical aids. That's some staggering numbers.
With 72 miles of coastline and 32 miles of beach, the fleet of 65 Toyota Tacomas, Tundras, and Sequoias help assure the LA County lifeguards make it to every emergency safely, quickly, and with all the proper equipment needed to render a positive outcome.
