Thank you to Knott’s Berry Farm for inviting our family to attend the media event for their newest ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef.
Knott’s Berry Farm debuted its newest ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef, during an exclusive media event this week. The 4-D interactive ride opens to the public this Friday, May 15th, 2015.
NEW Knott’s Berry Farm Voyage to the Iron Reef Ride
Voyage to the Iron Reef Park begins as visitors board a four-person submarine transporting them into the middle of an underwater battle brimming with mysterious, steampunk-inspired mechanical sea creatures. During the four-minute ride, riders get to use ray guns to try to freeze the Queen of the Kraken and her minions to stop them from pulling the roller coaster into her dark underwater world.
Featuring ten interactive scenes filled with many hidden surprises that react to the accuracy of the freeze ray guns controlled by the guests on board, Voyage to the Iron Reef is a visually impressive, high-tech shoot-em-up attraction that’s fun for all ages.

Knotts Berry Farm Voyage to the Iron Reef Media Event
Bob Gurr, one of the original legendary Disneyland Imagineers was at Knott’s Wednesday for the debut of the new attraction. “Iron Reef is mind-blowing in its graphics, and the best interactive 4D type of shoot-em-up dark ride I’ve ever seen.” Gurr said as he reflected on his six decades in the theme park industry.
“Voyage to the Iron Reef is a new look for Knott’s, and people will compare this ride to Midway Mania at Disney, which is a superb ride, but Knott’s has found a different way to do it that’s even better and on a lower budget.”
Also on hand was Captain McCalister, who welcomed each and every one of us on the maiden voyage to the Iron Reef as he christened the vessels with endless streamers and bubbles, which kids loved.
Media attending the event were treated to a delicious complimentary breakfast featuring the gorgeous carved ice and fresh fruit display below, along with a sampling of traditional breakfast fare and Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken.
We even caught sight of Captain Snoopy, as he joined the crew to set sail on the first voyage to defend the park and keep her safe from the dark underwater world!
Best of all, after enjoying all the fun of the opening ceremony it was our turn to ride!
The new attraction at Knott’s joins the 40 rides available for visitors, including rides in Knott’s Soak city, and there is so much more to see and do at Knott’s Berry Farm.
While at Knott’s you can grab a sarsaparilla in the old Ghost Town…
Explore Camp Snoopy with the little ones…
And enjoy the rides with the big kids, and those with big kid hearts.
Just don’t forget to check out the park from a new angle, 180 feet above the ground in the slow-moving Sky Cabin with a 360 degree panoramic view of Orange County, Catalina Island, and the LA basin.
