This pretty handmade pin cushion jars DIY is easy to make and will come in really handy when you do you next sewing project. You can keep your pins and needles in the pin cushion on the lid, and store your buttons and thread in the jar underneath.
Pin Cushion Jars DIY
- Small jar
- Glue gun
Step 1 – Cut the material into a circle approximately 6 inches in diameter, although the size may vary depending on the size of the lid on your jar – a larger jar will require a larger circle. The circle doesn't have to be precise, a roughly circular shape will work fine. Then thread your needle and put a loose running stitch around the edge of your circle, tie a double knot at the end of the thread to keep it in place.
Step 2 – Pull the end of the thread tightly so that the material folds up into a ball shape. Then fill the material with stuffing. Make sure you add quite a lot of stuffing so that the cushion is completely full. Then stitch the bottom closed and tie in place to hold.
Step 3: – Use the glue gun to attach the pin cushion to the lid of your jar and hold in place until the glue has dried. Then wrap a piece of ribbon around the edge of the lid, hiding the join where the cushion is attached. Follow this tutorial to learn how to make a mini bow to attach to the front of your jar for an extra pretty touch.
