Every summer we try to give our kids the best summer possible because we want our kids to look back on their childhood with fond memories of new experiences and endless fun. This year, we decided to make this summer a year of new experiences for our kids, from getting their face painted to cooking s'mores over an open fire, to going camping, body surfing, rock climbing, and tubing across a lake with their best friends. And it's not too late for you to join us in making this summer the best summer ever for your kids! Here are 20 family summer fun activities we did this year, as well as some tips on how you can prepare for the best summer trips ever, that you too can do before school starts next month.
Packing for a Day of Family Summer Fun Activities
Planning a new and exciting summer activity for you and your family isn't as daunting or expensive as you may think. Sure, the idea of embarking on a new journey may seem impossible, especially if you have a large family with young children like we do, but I'm here to help you realize that yes, you can do this.
First, you'll want to pack a few essentials, especially if you have young children. Diapers (if needed), wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, snacks, a first aid kit, sun care products, plenty of water, and an extra set of clothes are must haves every time we leave the house.
While all the items above are pretty basic, when it comes to skin care you will want to choose a product that is safe for kids and babies, like our favorite family oriented brand, La Roche-Posay, because according to the Skin Cancer Foundation 23% of lifetime sun exposure occurs by age 18.

La Roche-Posay, available at CVS and Amazon (La Roche-Posay store locator), has introduced their first sunscreen specifically made for kids to the US, Anthelios 60 Dermo-Kids. This sunscreen, developed with moms, dermatologists, and pediatricians, is specifically made with powerful UVA/UVB filters that provide broad spectrum, 80-minute water resistant protection. Best of all, the highly protective ingredients and antioxidants are effective, safe, and gentle on children’s sensitive skin.
While my UV Patch (app download required), is a connected health technology that allows kids and adults to measure their UV exposure and risk in real time. Awesome right!
